How do u Cap Pics From DVD/ VCD

Thought of posting from some masala DVD 's that I have . Thought of capping them , but relatively new in this field . So can someone tell me hw to do it . I tried with some screen-shot utllities , but after capping , the pic gets blank , no idea why .

So if someone could be generous enough to tell me , may be I can make their day ( or night ) soon by being able to post sexcellent caps
